Advantages of Instructional Materials in Teaching

With time both teaching methods and teaching materials have tremendously changed over time. This is because educators are trying their level best not only to teach well but to cater for students with special needs as well. In addition to that the rapid growth on technology has resulted in a lot of these changes were a teaching is not necessarily needed to stand in a classroom to teach. With the presence of the internet a teacher can teach his or her learners from wherever they are without them being in one room. In addition to that instructional materials have also been incorporated in the learning process . Below are some benefit of using instructional materials in teaching.

To begin with, it tends to motivate the learner. The teaching approach of using word of mouth to pass information at times is too boring for the learners. In addition to that it being boring it makes the learners lose motivation and with that the learner with lose concentration where they at times even sleep while the lesson is going on. However, the use of instructional materials will make the learner attentive and in return this is going to boost their level of concentration and motivation.

The second benefit of instructional materials is that it summarizes information. Often then note a topic that could have been taught in a couple of hours may be taught is just minutes by the application of instructional materials. For example if you are trying to demonstrate a procedure you can be able to draw it on a chart where the learners can be able to see a drawing representation of the process without you trying to use several words to do so little time is going to be spent in the process.

The third merit to that comes with instructional materials is that it encourages the continuity of thought. Often than not when learners are given an explanation by the word of mouth when the teacher gets to the next point often than not the previous point will have slipt their mind. However, instructional materials tend to cub these by allowing for the flow of thought by the use of visual representation. This is because motion pictures will always stick to the brain more.

In addition to that instructional materials is beneficial reason being it allows for presentation of matters symbolically. Unlike the used of teaching by word of mouth where learners will be thought by using theory and they just imagine things, instructional materials allows the learners to see them. To finish, discussed are the advantages of instructional materials.
